Located in the eastern board of Thailand, Koh Samet is approximately 200 kilometers from Bangkok, and 7 Kms from the city of Rayong. Koh Samet is the largest of a group of ten islands. Koh Samet is well known in Southeast Asia, the lure of a tropical paradise with its proximity to Bangkok is the reason for its popularity.

Koh Samet has been known as a safe anchorage for sailors since  the 13th century and in 19th century beauty was the inspiration for the literary masterpiece of Sunthorn Phu of Thailand,. In the 70 years the island was "discovered" by Thai teenagers and young couples from Bangkok looking to spend the weekend by the calm of the sea, the island has the status of natural park, but given its success tourist hotels, bungalows and restaurants are now located on beaches around the island.

Koh Samet has dozens of small coves and sandy beaches. Many Thais also come to the island to go camping.  Foreign tourists come here regularly.
