Capital of Thailand, Bangkok's population is around 6 500 000 inhabitants, the area of this province is 1560 km ², most of which is considered as the city of Bangkok, making it one of the largest cities the world. It is located only 2 meters above sea level, causing floods during monsoon. In addition, built on a formerly swampy area, the city sank 5 or 10 cm per year.

Bangkok is bisected by the Chao Phraya River, which sets out two major areas, the right bank (the former Thonburi), which has remained more traditional with many Khlong, a network of canals linked to the river and earned bangkok nickname  Venice of Asia,  the left bank is more developed, where there are most the tourist attractions, the business center, the subway network and modern towers.

HISTORY:

Bangkok (now the district of Thonburi) was a village located on the right bank of the Chao Phraya River. As a result of the destruction of Ayutthaya, the capital of the kingdom, by the Burmese in 1767, General Chanhda became king, withdrew down the site and decided to build the new capital. Become insane, he was assassinated and replaced by General Chakri which, under the name of Rama I, became the first king of the Chakri dynasty new ruling today. In 1782, he decided, for reasons of defense, to transfer the capital to the left bank and began construction of forts, now the Grand Palais. This date was chosen as the foundation of the city.
